Blogging through the Alphabet Letter A

In an effort to do more blogging I have decided to join in on the Blogging through the Alphabet series with Marcy over at Ben and Me!. You can join in the fun too! This week the letter is A! Blogging Through the Alphabet

In our house A is for Averrit Center for the Arts. Averrit Center for the arts is located in Downtown Statesboro, GA. If you are ever near by you should stop in! You can read more about this fantastic place http://www.averittcenterforthearts.org/.

We have enjoyed the programs, play and events held here for many years. They have a great school matinee line up each year! They even let teachers in FREE! And yes "homeschool moms" count as teachers here :) I know at some places we don't :( They have great art classes for all ages. They offer professional shows as well and community theater. We go to as many events as we can here! It now holds and even closer spot in our hearts because it is where my son works!

Three years ago William spend his entire summer volunteering with the summer camps that are offered there all summer. It just so happened that they were looking to start a BRAND NEW afterschool program that next year. The awesome program director "Mr. Tony" offered William a job with the new program! He saw how committed, responsible and good with kids that he was! William LOVES his job! I fill in from time to time when the other teacher can't be there and I also work some of the school break camps. I am lucky enough to see him at work and I love to see how much the kids look up to him.

The program is now in it's second year and is really growing! William looks forward to work each day, not many young people can say that! Here is is waiting for the kids to get off the bus and start a great day with the after school program:

An awesome Andy Warhol print exhibit came through the center awhile back. Here is a photo of William leading an activity in the art gallery on Warhol:

The Averrit Center is really a great place in our community and we are thankful for it on so many levels!
